Venetian Plaster Faux

This is a way to dress up an entry way, add a rich look to a powder room, accent any wall, or go crazy and do many walls in your home,

It does take patience, because it’s a process,

You can purchase it a Lowes, along with the metal applicaters that resemble a taping knife and some smaller applicators that resemble a putty knife,

It comes in about 8 colors, light gray was my favorite, due to it looking like silver when complete,

When applying, use a an angle pattern 2 or 3 times in each direction, this will create a plaster looking effect,

Use your smaller applicators, when you get to the corners,

Let it dry and put a second coat, use the same pattern,

After the second coat has dried, use a 100 grit sand paper and sand in a circular direction, you will start to see some accents,

Now, use a 200 grit sandpaper and use the same circular motion,

It’s time to create the special effect not shown on the can,

The wow factor!

Get a 4″ putty knife, with some muscle, and scrape your wall in the same way you applied your Faux Plaster initially,

When I say scrape, it doesn’t mean to remove any material, it means by applying pressure, bending the putty knife a little, on an angle, you’ll get a shiny reflective effect on the peaks, this will further emphasize the plaster effect,

The effect you’ll get, will be determined by the amount of pressure you apply,

Below are some photos to view the effect!

Have fun!
