How to Hang Your T.V.
There are many sizes of T.V.’s, and varieties of T.V. mounts….
For Large T.V.’s which are trending right now, one may need a second set of hands, lifting the T.V. onto the mount is easier with a 2nd people,
Your next best friend, 2nd to the person who just helped you, is your stud finder(s)…..
Due to the large variety of Stud Finders, I like to have two…this increases accuracy tremendously, maybe use yours and one from your friend,
Now, the Mount….with large T.V.’s, flexibility could play out well later based on the positioning options, e.g.—-
If one chooses a Mount with multiple positioning options, they’ll be able to pull the T.V. away from the wall, pull it out on the left or right, and spin slightly to square it to the wall and ceiling,
This spinning ability is genius….if the wall bracket (you just mounted) is not perfectly square, no worries,…just give a little spin and…wallah…your a professional…just like that!
On the complete other end of the spectrum….if one has a small T.V…..maybe for and office or a home Gym….there are mounts that require no drilling.. .just a hammer and nails…that come with the Mount (not the hammer)…these nails go in on an angle by the angled holes in the wall mount…again…genius!
Whatever mount you choose, it will come with many size bolts and washers…..most of the time, the variety pack will come with one that fits yours,
Once one finds the right size bolts, one will have options of what holes on the T.V. Mount, to use….think this through based on your end goal position,
Another option that makes the whole experience easier is the way the bottom groove of the T.V. bracket, connects to the bottom rail of the wall bracket, instead of the screw kind, there are to nylon loops that one just pulls down on,….
After you and your T.V. mounting friend (large T.V.’s) helps hook the T.V. onto the top rail, one then easily pulls the two nylon loops, wallah, your good to go!
A couple of tools you’ll need are…a tape measure, level, a regular and impact drill, pencil, a stud finder (or 2), 4 bolts (usually comes with Mount), some drill bits, and….safety glasses!,
After I mark my 4 holes, I like to drill a pilot hole with a small drill bit,
1) this helps guarantee that one has found the stud
2) it creates a pilot hole for the mounting bolts
Incidentally, after I’ve drilled my 4 holes, I’ll use a larger bit to make my pilot hole larger, to accommodate my larger bolt,
Now, my favorite part, driving my bolts with my impact drill, the impact drill will drive your bolts with ease, without the kick back of a regular drill,
So, as one can see, there are a few steps, but as with any project, begin with end in mind….and go make it happen!
