Repairing Dry Rot on the Bottom of Garage Door Jamb

A neighbor was selling his home and the buyer wanted some dryrot repaired on the bottom of the garage door jamb,

We agreed that scraping out the dryrot was the best way to go,

Using an oscillating saw to remove the rot seemed to work best, there are different blades one could use, I had a square one, but a round one may work better,

After the rot was removed,

It was time to break out with the Bondo, incidentally, Bondo can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowes, and one of their products is specific to wood,

My neighbor had purchased the Bondo for wood, after using both the Bondo for Wood and the All Purpose Bondo…..

I prefer the All Purpose, I like the Firm Consistancy of it, the Wood Bondo was a little warm Peanut Buttery,

What’s great about Bondo, is it’s fast drying time, after the agent is added, it starts to dry in about 15 minutes,

About 45 minutes later, ready to sand,

Using an orbital sander with a preety good grit, worked well,

I went back after sanding and applied a little more Bondo in some of the pockmarks, sanded again until I got a smooth consistancy and shape,

I was even able to create a corner, with the All Purpose Bondo,

My neighbor painted it and it looked Amazing!

Have fun, and be safe!
