Dry Rot
Many of the homes in our area experience dryrot,
Engineered wood siding seems to be where it occurs most,
Many of the home improvement centers don’t carry it, including HD, Lowes & Meinards,
Fortunately, there are a few less known centers that do,
It comes in 4×8 sheets, so the best way to repair the dryrotted section is to replace the entire sheet, prime it and paint,
A good paint store will be able to match the paint color from the removed sheet or a paint chip peeled away from the dryrotted area
If the dryrot is left untreated, the consequences can increase quickly and dramatically, mold becomes a concern and the overall structure can become compromised, the dryrot can spread to the framing,
If it’s caught and repaired early enough, in most cases, it shouldn’t be a concern,
Definitely not something one would want to put off   though!
So, don’t wait, if you or someone you know has signs of dryrot…..get er done today!
