Bird nests and Plastic Bird Spikes
A recent client had and issue with birds nesting under their window unit air conditioners,
Along with the nests there was a lot of dried up bird poop, yuck!
They wanted everything cleaned up since the AC units are their only source of cooling in those upstairs bedrooms,
After removing the units and cleaning/disinfecting the window stool, plastic bird spikes were installed made by Enviro Spike,
The spikes are plastic, making them more humane than the metal ones many places carry,
It was a little challenging in determining where/how to place them,
The stools were vinyl and the screen tracks were metal, compromising the vinyl or metal with screw holes was quickly ruled out,
30 minute 100% silacone worked well,
The Enviro Spikes can be trimmed to fit a space, and by using clear silacone, sections were installed directly on top of the AC unit,
After the spikes were installed, an expanding foam was placed in the space between the top and bottom sash…..the foam comes in a compressed roll, after it’s placed in a space it expands to 1.5 inches!
All said and done the bird poop is gone and the Enviro Spikes installed,
