Ring Install
I’ve installed about 15-20 ring door bells, (along with wireless alarms)
An I discovered a couple of tips along the way,
Before you begin….download the app and register your device and connect to your phone,
Then, charge the battery until the orange light disappears,
Installation,
A little hack I discovered is to use the wedges, the Ring Doorbell comes with wedges…if your door is above street-level (most are) the 5° downward wedge is recommended to reduce activating the ring for every car that drives by,
The features I like about using the wedges are two fold,
1)The Ring wires connected to the doorbell wires can be tucked into the wedge
2) Drilling two holes instead of four, to connect the ring housing to the substrate, and four machine screws to connect the Ring Doorbell to the housing,
In the most recent install, I used a downward angle wedge (due to entrance above street level) and a right (or left) angle wedge due to the position of the existing doorbell being very close to the entrance wall…I angled it away from the wall to enhance the panned view,
The downward angled wedges are 5° and can be stacked three high (a total of 15°), the degree would be determined by the height of the door relevant to street level,
Many folks are not aware that Ring has about 20 different batery cover colors,
Ring has a limited deal right now, enter a code that the doorbell comes with and get a free custom color, of your choosing, for free!, including free shipping, I had to change the shipping to free shipping, because it defaulted to paid shipping to get it quicker, if you go to, shipping options, and change to the longer wait time, it’s free, due to the code,
I received my custom color battery color in three days even though the minimum ship time was suppose to be five,
Finally, I like the neighborhood feature on the app, because there’s real time members/neighbors that post current happenings in our neighborhoods,
Overall I would rate the difficulty of installing your Ring Doorbell at about a 4 out of 10,
