Installing a Doggy Door

There are a few factors to consider when instslling a doogy door.

1) Try to find a place where there are no wires running through the wall, and try to use common sense, meaning, look at your outlets, if your putting a doggy door between two oulets near the floor, theres a chance the wires will run behind the wall connecting the two outlets.

2) Installing your doggy door between two studs is very important, you do not want to cut any studs, these are structural!, so, the best way to determine this is with a stud finder.

3) Use the template provided to you in the box and make sure to place it on the wall (with tape) at the right height in relationship to your dogs height, trace around the template and prepare to cut the opening, starting with inside first.

4) Do you have the right tools?, well, that depends on what your cutting, there’s one tool, or blade, associated with cutting through stucco verses cutting through wood or sheetrock, I find an angle grinder is a very versatile tool to consider, you can preety much do the entire project by just changing the type of blade, finally, make sure you use 100% silacone around the outside of your doggy door to prevent any moisture from gettin in.

Bonus tip….

When trying to line up the outside opening with the inside opening, take a long drill bit, from the inside and drill through to the outside from the four corners of your inside opening.
